Muhammad Salman Ali

I am an Innocore Postdoctoral Fellow in the Vision and Learning Lab at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST), South Korea, under the supervision of Prof. Sengryul Baek. I completed my Ph.D. at the Machine Learning and Visual Computing Lab at Kyung Hee University, where I successfully defended my dissertation in June 2025. During my doctoral studies, I was also affiliated with Télécom Paris, where I spent seven months as a Ph.D. intern.

I received my bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) in 2018, graduating with distinction (Gold Medal). I had the privilege of working under the supervision of Prof. Sung Ho Bae and collaborating with Prof. Hui Yong Kim, Prof. Chaoning Zhang, Prof. Giuseppe Valensize, and Prof. Enzo Tartaglione.

My research focuses on learned image compression and 3D Gaussian Splatting compression, with an emphasis on efficient and scalable visual representations. I have authored over 20 publications, including papers in top-tier venues such as NeurIPS, CVPR, ICCV, TCSVT, BMVC, and WACV, as well as several SCIE-indexed journals.

Beyond research, I am an avid cricket enthusiast and a passionate student of history.
